Perfil
Ignasi PUIG DE DOU
Director General, Barcelona
Postgrau als Estats Units, 1987
After 22 years working in the Corporate world (Accenture and Hewlett-Packard) I have reached a sweetspot in my personal life and decided to start something on my own. The goal being to spend my time in something I am passionate about while delivering value to companies and society.
With this idea in mind, I am currently working towards the completion of my PhD in Statistics and Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics (FME-UPC) and teaching at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya Statistics Department and ESADE Business School. The PhD completion is intended to update my toolbox in the business mathematics area, specially focused in big data analysis and computer modeling.
At the same time (and here comes the value delivery part!), together with some professors and a fellow PhD student from ETSEIB, we are launching a start up to supply advanced mathematics firepower to industry and businesses. Our idea is to make available to companies the existing computer and mathematical techniques to analyze existing data to reach meaningful decisions that drive action plans, and do this regardless how small these companies are. Something in line with "big data for the small and medium businesses".
Let's see what this new period of my life brings! and, as the poet says: "pray that the road is long/ full of adventure, full of knowledge".
