Enric VALLDUVÍ BOTET

Born in Reus (1962). Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania (1990). Since 1995 he is associate professor in the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, where he has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on pragmatics, semantics, crosslinguistic variation, and English grammar. Previously he had taught at the University of Southern California (1990-91) and worked as researcher in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1991-92) and the University of Edinburgh (1993-95). His research focuses on context-dependent linguistic meaning and its reflection on the structure of languages. Between 1999 and 2012 Vallduví gathered substantial experience in University administration, serving as assistant dean, head of department, and graduate chair. During 2013-2014 he was a visiting academic at the University of Otago, while on sabbatical from his home institution.
