Joana Hurtado Matheu is a writer, curator and researcher based in Barcelona, specialized on the relationship between art, cinema and photography. From 2019 to 2023, she is the Director of Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona set up by Barcelona City Council. Since 2021, she is professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s Degree in Arts and Design at Escola Massana – Art and Design Centre. From 2010 to 2019 she was in charge of the exhibition programme of Can Felipa. As an independent curator she has curated many film and exhibition projects, she has written extensively for the supplement “Cultura/s” in La Vanguardia, and has contributed to magazines like Cahiers du Cinéma – España, Time Out Barcelona and Parachute. She holds a Degree in Art History (University of Barcelona), an MA in Art Criticism (University of Girona) and a PhD in Cinematographic and Audiovisual Studies (París III – Sorbonne Nouvelle).
