Khaoula Ennahli

Ph.D student in Psychology

Doctorate in Portugal, 2023

I hold a bachelor's degree in Portuguese Studies and a master's degree in Cognitive Science. During my bachelor's degree, I researched how different cultures and groups conceive abstract domains like time. For my master's degree, I conducted a neuropsychological and linguistic research study on proper names and common nouns dissociation in linguistic processing and memory retrieval. During this time, I was also a research intern in a project examining the role of the hippocampus in memory retrieval in Alzheimer's disease and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Furthermore, I was also a volunteer trainee in a project on Adaptive Memory. During my research training, I used a combination of techniques (i.e., Electroencephalography (EEG), Electrodermal activity (EDA), Electromyography (EMG), and Electrocardiogram (ECG). As scientific products, I co-authored presentations at international and national conferences and co-authored a scientific article on 'Neural signatures of naming retrieval' that is submitted for publication. Recently, I have been particularly drawn to the intersection of creative cognition, memory, and healthy aging. To conduct my Ph.D in ISCTE, I am honored to have been offered the prestigious La Caixa Doctoral INPhINIT Fellowship from ”la Caixa” Foundation (ID 100010434). The fellowship code is LCF/BQ/DR23/12000037 ”. My Ph.D project focuses on comparing the effectiveness of creativity-based and standard cognitive-based strategies in enhancing declarative memories in older adults. I have a passion for visual arts, particularly painting. This personal interest is not only fulfilling in itself, but it also has a valuable connection to my professional interests in the psychology of creative cognition and the complex interplay between cognition, memory, and creativity. Currently, I am responsible for several research activities. Namely, mentoring of students with different expertise levels, I support EEG and behavioral data collection and analysis, mentor and train an undergraduate student in Sytematic Review and Meta-analysis. At this moment, I am actively participating in 4 research projects (1 behavioral study (data collection phase), 2 systematic reviews and meta-analysis (screening phase), 1 EEG study (write-up stage).
