Scientist, entrepreneur, policy advisor and engineering professor passionate about imagining, building and sharing responsible artificial intelligence for humanity and the planet. Dr. Miguel Luengo-Oroz is the former first Chief Data Scientist at the United Nations. Miguel is the founder and CEO of Spotlab, an AI platform for clinical research and universal diagnosis. He advises leadership on the impact of macro trends and frontier technologies for their organizations and society.   Miguel has been awarded and acknowledged as an Obama Europe Leader, Ashoka fellow, MIT TR35, EU Responsible Research & Innovation award, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (UK), Red Cross Innovation award, La Caixa fellow, and Singularity University GSP10.   Miguel has been the first data scientist at the United Nations. He has worked at Global Pulse in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General where he has been responsible for technology strategy, and grew & led the data science teams across the global network of Pulse labs. Over more than a decade, Miguel has built teams bringing data science to operations and policy through innovation programs with international orgs, govs, private sector & academia. He has worked in many domains including poverty, food security, refugees & migrants, conflict prevention, human rights, privacy, gender, hate speech, epidemics, infodemics and climate.   Dr. Luengo-Oroz has co-authored over a hundred multidisciplinary scientific articles, policy briefs and op-eds about applications and ethics of AI. He is professor at the doctoral school and board member at the Telecommunications School of the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. As research scientist, he has worked in topics as generative AI & creativity, collective intelligence, systems biology & neurogeometry. He is the inventor of MalariaSpot.org -a collective intelligence videogame for malaria diagnosis with half million players. His work has been featured in international media including El Pais, The Guardian, CNN or Al Jazeera and high impact scientific journals as Science, Nature or The Lancet. He serves regularly in strategic advisory boards around responsible AI and has advised the governments of Spain and USA, and is expert of the Global Partnership on AI. He is a keynote speaker for scientific, industry, policy and general audiences.   He holds a PhD (Premio Extraordinario) & MSc.Eng from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a MSc from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales & École Normale Supérieure de Paris.
