Nace en Barcelona en 1967. En junio de 1991 obtiene el título de licenciado en Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. En agosto del mismo año se incorpora a la University of California, San Diego, donde en 1997 obtiene un doctorado en Economía. En 1997 se incorpora a la Universidad de California en Davis donde actualmente es catedratico. Desde el 2011 trabaja para el Banco de la Reserva Federal en San Francisco como Senior Policy Advisor.
