Nace en Cervera en 1979. En 2002 obtiene el título de ingeniero superior de Telecomunicaciones por la ETSETB de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). El proyecto final de carrera lo realiza en el Departamento de Teoría de la Señal, en el cual desarrolla un nuevo sistema de codificación de vídeo para sistemas de videoconferencia que se engloba dentro del proyecto europeo Mascot. Después de la graduación, sigue vinculado al proyecto Mascot hasta la finalización del mismo en mayo de 2003, mediante una beca de colaboración con la UPC. El septiembre de 2003 empieza en la University of Southern California los estudios de doctorado en Electrical Engeneering, y realiza su trabajo de investigación en el Signal and Image Processing Institute.
