Nace en Sabadell (Barcelona) en 1971. En 1994 obtiene el título de licenciada en Veterinaria, en la especialidad de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Alimentos, por la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Al finalizar sus estudios trabaja temporalmente en la Facultad de Veterinaria de dicha universidad y, más adelante, en diversas industrias cárnicas, en el área de calidad. Tras obtener un máster en Ciencia y Tecnología de los Alimentos en la University of Reading, entre septiembre de 1996 y septiembre de 1997, trabaja temporalmente en la sede inglesa de Mars Inc. (multinacional americana de alimentación) como tecnóloga de alimentos, hasta marzo de 1998.
