Diego was born in Ponferrada in 1992. He earned his Bachelor in Economics from University of Salamanca in 2014, after completing two academic years in HEC Montreal (Canada) and KU Leuven (Belgium).

In January 2015, he was selected among 1200 candidates for the III BBVA Asset Management Graduate Program, which allowed him to pursue a Master's in Portfolio Management at Instituto de Estudios Bursatiles (IEB) and to launch his career within BBVA’s investment arm. After one year in the Analysis department, he joined the Multi-Asset Allocation team, which managed the largest mutual fund in Spain, with over €10 billion in assets.

In 2017, Diego became a CFA Charterholder and joined Fonditel, the corporate pension manager of Telefonica, where he oversees the fund’s equity positions as a Portfolio Manager/Trader and contributes to the overall asset allocation strategy.
