Nace en Santander en 1971. Es licenciado en Ciencias Físicas por la Universidad de Salamanca (1994) y doctor en Física por la misma universidad (1999). Durante los cursos académicos 1996-97 y 1997-98 trabaja en el Institute for Magnetics Research de la George Washington University (EE. UU.) realizando parte de su tesis doctoral. Posteriormente, durante los cursos 2000-01 y 2001-02 trabaja como investigador asociado en el Departamento de Física de la University of Cambridge (Reino Unido). En la actualidad es profesor ayudante en el Departamento de Física Aplicada de la Universidad de Salamanca. Su trabajo de investigación se centra en el estudio del magnetismo en materiales nanoestructurados. Ha publicado más de una treintena de artículos en revistas especializadas en dicho campo y ha participado en la organización de varios congresos internacionales.
