Es licenciado en Derecho e investigador en el Seminario de Filosofía del Derecho y Derecho Penal en la Universidad de Bonn y obtiene el título de magister iuris comparativi por dicha universidad bajo la dirección del profesor Günther Jakobs. Es ponente/conferenciante en diferentes congresos internacionales y autor de ensayos jurídicos, históricos y literarios. Sus libros son: "Derecho penal del enemigo: desmitificación de un concepto" (2006), "Las insolvencias punibles en la encrucijada del Derecho penal y del Derecho Mercantil" (2005) y "Cometer delitos con palabras" (2004), en coautoría con el profesor Polaino Navarrete. Traduce varias obras del alemán y del italiano al español.
