Nace en Barcelona en 1974. En 1997 se licencia en Farmacia por la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Durante el tercer y cuarto curso de sus estudios colabora en el estudio de la artritis adyuvante con el Grupo de Inmunopatología Experimental (Dra. Castellote, Dra. Castell y Dra. Franch) del Departamento de Ciencias Fisiológicas Humanas y de la Nutrición de la UB. Gracias a la beca de colaboración para estudiantes de último año de carrera, en 1997 colabora con la Sección de Inmunología del Laboratorio de Bioinvestigación de Merck Farma y Química S.A. En agosto de 1997 se incorpora al Departamento de Reumatología del Beth Israel Hospital de la Harvard University para colaborar en el estudio de nuevos tratamientos de la artritis reumatoide e iniciar el doctorado. También colabora con el Center of Neurologic Diseases (Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard) en el estudio de tolerancia oral en modelos animales de otras enfermedades autoinmunes (esclerosis múltiple, diabetes, Alzheimer).
