Nace en Barcelona en 1966. En 1989 obtiene el título de licenciada en Filología Catalana por la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. De enero de 1989 a su incorporación a la universidad británica, colabora en las tareas de lematización del corpus textual informatizado del "Diccionario del catalán contemporáneo", en el Institut d'Estudis Catalans. En octubre de 1990 se incorpora a la University of Cambridge para cursar un máster en Literatura Medieval y en noviembre de 1994 obtiene el título de doctora con una tesis titulada "Cerverí de Girona and his poetic traditions". Posteriormente trabaja en The Warburg Institute y continúa dedicándose a la investigación en el campo de la literatura medieval. En la actualidad es profesora de Filología Románica en la Universitat de Girona.
