Nace en Segovia en 1972. En 1995 obtiene el título de licenciada en Ciencias Matemáticas, especialidad Matemática Fundamental, por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, después de realizar el último curso de licenciatura en la Warwick University (Reino Unido) como becaria Erasmus. En el curso 1995-96 inicia sus estudios de doctorado, incorporándose como becaria al Departamento de Matemáticas Fundamentales de la Facultad de Ciencias de la UNED. En 1997 visita el Mathematics Research Centre de Warwick University y comienza a trabajar, bajo la dirección de la profesora Caroline Series, en el tema de variedades de plisado (geometría hiperbólica) para la realización de su tesis doctoral. En el año 2000 se incorpora como profesora asociada a la Facultad de Económicas de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. En octubre de 2001 inicia una estancia de investigación en el Mathematics Research Centre de Warwick University para trabajar con la profesora Series.
