Since 2010, Portugal has experienced significant growth in the field of scientific research, particularly in biomedicine, although not exclusively. Increasingly, more students choose to continue their careers in the country, tackling scientific challenges with innovative and multidisciplinary approaches, as is the case with these four fellows.
INPhINIT Fellows' meeting
Last February, in Girona, we held the first Annual Meet-up for the doctoral INPhINIT fellows from our 2023 call. For four days, the fellows took part in a range of activities designed to hone their interdisciplinary skills, such as communication, creativity, leadership and teamwork. Anna Vilà Cuñat, an expert in criminal and European law, communicator and one of the fellows taking part in the meeting, shares some of her thoughts about this experience in the following article. Anna highlights the opportunity provided by such training to integrate scholars from different disciplines in both science and humanities and thereby build a true community of knowledge.

Fellowship meetings Trobades becaris
The fourth "la Caixa" Foundation's Bachelor fellowship call was held this year, awarding 50 new fellows, and these grants have already enabled 200 excellent students to go to university. The Chairman of "la Caixa" Foundation, Isidro Fainé, met with the 50 fellows from the 2022 call, many of whom have already reached the halfway point in their studies.

Eleven "la Caixa" Foundation fellows are meeting up in New York and Boston with the 65 winners of The Challenge by EduCaixa, a programme that promotes the talent of students committed to tackling the challenges of the 21st century.
Fellows Association Postgraduate Degree
The Fellowships programme of the ”la Caixa” Foundation has boosted the academic careers of more than 6,000 excellent students and researchers throughout its more than 40-year history. With this major milestone, the programme reaffirms its support for young talent and celebrates the total number of fellowships awarded so far: 147 bachelor fellowships, 3,878 postgraduate fellowships abroad, 1,719 doctoral fellowships and 273 postdoctoral fellowships in Spain and Portugal.

On Wednesday, 5 June, we celebrated the presentation of ‘la Caixa’ Foundation's postgraduate fellowships abroad, awarded to the 100 university graduates selected in the 2023 call. This event, presided over by His Majesty the King of Spain, is the 42nd edition of the fellowship programme, which aims to promote the talent of the most outstanding students by furthering their training at some of the best universities in the world.
