In 1984, he obtained the title of architect from the ETSAB (School of Architecture of Barcelona) at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. In 1986, he began the master's program in Architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), which he completed at Harvard University in 1988. Subsequently, he worked as an architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Los Angeles until December 1989. From 1990 to 1996, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), where he taught courses on projects, theory, and computer-aided design methodology. In 1995, he obtained his doctorate from ETH Zurich with the thesis "The concept of type in architecture. An inquiry into the nature of architectural form." From 1996 to 1999, he was the director of the postgraduate program at the Institute of Computer-Aided Architectural Design (CAAD), ETH Zurich. Since 1999, he has been involved in teaching and research at the School of Architecture La Salle, Ramon Llull University, where he was an associate professor until the year 2011 and later became a full professor. His teaching activity focus on the interaction between architecture and representation across various domains: art and architectural theory, digital technologies, urban planning and housing studies. He has been the head of the doctoral program "Representation, Knowledge, and Architecture" and the research group ARC Engineering and Architecture La Salle. He has coordinated various research projects, both national and international, on topics related to housing (BARCODE HOUSING SYSTEM, RE-DWELL), inhabited space (PROHABIT), art and architecture (A-Place), energy efficiency (SEMANCO, RÉPENER, ENERHAT/ENERPAT, RETABIT, TIMEPAC), and architecture pedagogy (OIKODOMOS, OIKONET), among other subjects. His work has been published in papers, articles, and books.
